The kidney grille is the loudest part on the G87, and the factory unit is painted plastic.
A full replacement for the factory grille, built from autoclaved 2x2 pre-preg dry carbon fiber and shaped to the M2 CS frame silhouette. Sold as a matched pair, left and right, finished together so the weave and gloss match side to side.
Sits above the Carbon Fiber Front Bumper Ducts and beside the Front Bumper Vent Trim. All three plus the front spoiler come together in the Carbon Front End Bundle Kit. Often bought with the Carbon Fiber Mirror Covers, which carry the same weave down the sides of the car.
Pre-preg carbon arrives with the resin already impregnated into the weave at a controlled ratio, so no resin is added by hand during layup — that is what makes it dry carbon. Curing it under heat and pressure in an autoclave consolidates the laminate and drives out trapped air that would otherwise show as flaws in the finished surface. Other processes introduce the resin at the mold, so the ratio is set during layup rather than before it.
A grille frame sits at eye level on approach and is the single most-photographed part on this car. There is nowhere on it for a pinhole or a wandering weave line to hide.
