The G8X bumper already has the intake openings cut into it. From the factory they're filled with black plastic fins that disappear from three feet away.
These replace them with a single-fin motorsport profile in autoclaved 2x2 pre-preg dry carbon fiber, sold as a matched pair, driver and passenger side.
Sits either side of the CSL-Style Grille and below the Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler. All three come together in the Carbon Front End Bundle Kit. Directly behind the bumper, the Carbon Fiber Radiator Cooling Shroud carries the same weave into the engine bay.
Pre-preg carbon arrives with the resin already impregnated into the weave at a controlled ratio, so no resin is added by hand during layup — that is what makes it dry carbon. Curing it under heat and pressure in an autoclave consolidates the laminate and drives out trapped air that would otherwise show as flaws in the finished surface. Other processes introduce the resin at the mold, so the ratio is set during layup rather than before it.
A duct fin is a thin, deep, sharply folded shape — the geometry most likely to show print-through or a resin-rich edge when it's laid by hand. Consolidation under pressure is what keeps the fin edge crisp.
