The center vent trim spans the whole lower opening of the G87's front bumper. Straight on, it is the largest single piece of black plastic on the car.
A direct replacement for the factory trim piece, built from autoclaved 2x2 pre-preg dry carbon fiber and matched to the factory shape and cutouts.
Sits below the CS-Style Carbon Fiber Front Grille and between the Front Bumper Ducts. All three plus the front spoiler come together in the Carbon Front End Bundle Kit.
Pre-preg carbon arrives with the resin already impregnated into the weave at a controlled ratio, so no resin is added by hand during layup — that is what makes it dry carbon. Curing it under heat and pressure in an autoclave consolidates the laminate and drives out trapped air that would otherwise show as flaws in the finished surface. Other processes introduce the resin at the mold, so the ratio is set during layup rather than before it.
This is the widest carbon part on the front of the car, which makes it the hardest to hold flat and the easiest place to spot a weave line that wanders. Consolidating a piece this wide under pressure is what keeps it from telegraphing its own layup.
