A direct replacement for the factory hood vent, built from autoclaved 2x2 pre-preg dry carbon fiber.
Works with the GT Front Grille and GT Front Bumper Inserts below it. It appears in all four front end kits — start with the Carbon Sport Front End Bundle Kit. Directly below it, the Carbon Fiber Radiator Cover finishes the engine bay the vent looks down into.
Pre-preg carbon arrives with the resin already impregnated into the weave at a controlled ratio, so no resin is added by hand during layup — that is what makes it dry carbon. Curing it under heat and pressure in an autoclave consolidates the laminate and drives out trapped air that would otherwise show as flaws in the finished surface. Other processes introduce the resin at the mold, so the ratio is set during layup rather than before it.
A hood vent sits on the flattest, most reflective panel on the car, in full sun, at the angle people photograph it from. On a surface that open, the difference between a consolidated laminate and a hand-laid one is not subtle.
